Testrun meme

Presenting the test run meme for characters that want to get into SRWU. How does it actually work?

-Following is a list of prompts that your character can respond to. The prompts are described to some extent but there is intentional vagueness so you can fill in the details yourself. Make sure to describe those details in your response. Make sure to also include the number of the prompt you're responding to!

-After you post your response (a top-level entry), other players can respond to it with their own characters. This creates a thread where the two of you continue to interact with each other.

-There can be more than one response per a top-level entry, thus creating several independent threads that originate from one tag. Please don't interject into other peoples' threads that are already running without making sure they're fine with it first!

-There is no need to register or join any communities in order to respond to this meme. Just pick a character you want to use and post away.

-Participation is not obligatory for characters that want to get into SRWU. Participating can be helpful though because threads your character participates in can count for the app's "sample post" requirement.

List of prompts:

[1]
You just joined Unity Group and received accomodation at one of its bases. The question is, what will you do next? Look around for your room? Go to the hangar to make sure your mecha is alright? Say hello to other pilots who are already around? Greet everyone more officially through a disciplined military-like broadcast? Or perhaps something else altogether?

[2]
Using the Time-Space Extension Nexus... or teleporters, as many people unofficially but not inaccurately call it. You enter the Nexus room, there is a slight tingling sensation and just a second later, you leave at a different location - in another of Unity Group's base! Was it the first time for you to use this unusual, marvelous technology? Or are you already used to it?

[3]
Victory! Something good just happened, for you or for the group as a whole. A difficult mission was successful, a troublesome enemy defeated, perhaps the victory was political in nature, or maybe you received an upgrade for your machine. Either way, it's something to feel good about - so describe what it was and how you celebrate.

[4]
Bad times are upon us. A new powerful enemy emerged from somewhere, we faced a huge defeat, an ally has perished, or maybe it is something more personal in nature. Whatever it is (describe it as above), it can't be good... how do you cope with it?

[5]
It's time to fight! A battle is raging around you, and it is time to focus if you wish to win, no - if you want to live! But who are the enemies, what unit are you using, what is the current situation, and most importantly: what are you doing at this very moment?!

Not satisfied with the prompt selection? Why not write your own test run post over at [community profile] testrun_box!

"So just another form of training then? That's one way to look at it."

Raquel shakes Ana's hand back and she nods a little bit.

"Yes, I'm a test pilot for a machine known as the Amazon, it's testing a motion control system and something else that's more exotic, you might have to see it in action. Or you could think I'm a bit crazy. Lot of people already do."

She grins widely as if she enjoys the idea people may think she's nuts.

[Another test pilot, huh?]

Considering the number of times I've seen test pilots keep trying out flying coffins, I think craziness comes with the occupation. Nobody's said that about me just yet though, but you never know.

I used to help out with testing the Breaker, but things happened. It's a long story though, I'm not going to bore you with it.

[Or bum her out either.]

"This one isn't a coffin, think about a machine that could allow a on foot combatant to be able to fight on the scale of a mecha with very little additional training. I won't pry then. There's also another thing on board but as I said. You'll have to wait to see it in action."

She seems to be recovering bit more for she's got fairly chatty at this point she seems stable on her feet again as she adds another comment.

"So the name's Raquel Manora. Thought the feedback seems to be a bit of a problem it however helps me fight better with it honestly."

Probably the reason why it's not eliminated from all the motion capture systems employed. Feedback, even if it's just simple resistance, is something you get even if you're just driving a car or piloting normally.

Do they at least have an emergency shut-off in case it knows it's going to make you feel something really bad though?

"So far as I know, there is not. I don't think I'd ask for one either to be honest. It's a way to know how badly of your machine is. It's a part of you, you need to know how bad your hurt. There's a limit to how far it would go but I think a cut off might be a problem more than just putting a overall limit on it."

I wouldn't go that far. At some point pain just becomes something that keeps you from doing your job... I'd rather be struggling with an unresponsive machine than in agony because it feels like my arm's been torn off.

Besides... the circumstances of what brought me here make me a little bit unwilling to "become one" with any machine.

[She can't help but laugh a little.]

... And here I thought I wouldn't be talking about that.

"Pain lets you know your alive. When you should be feeling it and don't is when you need to worry. ... I'm getting the feeling you don't mean in the traditional making your weapon an extension of your self do you?"

Let's just say I personally prefer there to be some boundaries in man-machine interface.

... And yeah. The stuff that wound up bringing me to the Unity Group involved something like that. Some fancy black box tech that turned out too good to be true.

"I can understand there, I'd not want them say implanting anything in to me. So your saying the tech turned out to be something out of a movie. Where it was likely to eat you or have terrible long term effects? I can't fault you then for how you feel. I'm no raving loony crying for the death of flesh, mind you."

No she's a crazy Wuxia sort of person.
