BACK
Welcome back! We're getting close to the Big Midpoint Mission, so things are really heating up. And this is a hell of a hard mission!
Notable cutscenes:
-Teppei makes an ass of himself and bonds with Tasuku.
-Kira is in jail.
-Lockon and Setsuna are bros.
And with no further delays:
Chapter 52
The Gundam They Called Zero
Full mission recording
Mission starts with us deployed around a kind of shitty carrier, facing the next tier up of mooks: GN-Xs! It's not clear until you actually engage them in battle, but all but one of the enemies are Mobile Dolls, the last being PATRICK MOTHERFUCKING COLASOUR.
Showing his disdain for any kinds of subtlety, Ryouma flares Getter-1's wings a beelines straight towards the nearest GN-X and punches it in the chest with all the power the Getter can bring to bear.
UG has a pretty ace Getter Robo! All-around good stats, and Ryouma and Hayato are both really good pilots. Weirdly, though, Getter-3 is even WORSE than it usually is, being so bad that sometimes I swear the writers gave Benkei next to no dialogue as an apology to the player.
The rest are old units, so I'll skip ahead a bit. Basically, there are a lot of enemies, I'm fighting on two fronts, so I have to split up my forces to keep the carrier alive, and all the MDs have Offensive and Defensive Support. (Patrick has neither.)
After a couple turns...
Surprisingly, the cable gambit seems to actually work for a moment.
Patrick, however, gives a little smirkish chuckling sound over the comm channel.
A moment later, the cables between X and GN-X are vaporized by a massive energy beam from off towards the edge of the battle.
Ryouma: "What the hell?"
A blue mobile suit approaches, gun aimed at Teppei.
Setsuna: "What?!"
Patrick: "First rule of battle: Don't show all your cards from the beginning!"
Vayeate! Like Patrick, it's a miniboss, but even as a Mobile Doll, it's nothing to laugh at. Its accuracy isn't the best, but one hit from its beam cannon can land you in a world of hurt. That, and the GN-Xs are still around, so things are getting dicey. Another couple turns, and we get another cutscenefight:
Lockon: "I'm assuming it's the one you attacked. Al..right!"
Moving in closer again, Dynames' knee armor opens up, shooting out eight of the GN missiles.
Patrick shoots down several of the GN missiles with some help from his dolls, the last pair getting intercepted as a GN-X jumps in the way, losing a pair of limbs in the process but saving its commander.
[3380 damage (Defensive Support)]
Meanwhile, another two GN-Xs charge Dynames from the sides, firing beam rifles.
The two GN-Xs break through Lockon's evasive pattern, one grabbing and holding onto each GN Shield.
Meanwhile, Patrick charges from the front, with his beam saber.
Patrick: "You're mine!"
The beam saber strikes true, appearing to strike Dynames directly in the cockpit.
[6150 damage (Defeated)]
Aaaaand down goes Lockon, leaving me one man short for the rest of the mission. But THAT'S NOT ALL!
Bursting out from the colony in front of them appears a mobile suit that looks similar to Wing Gundam, but with wings that look like feathers.
The new Gundam flies out and uses the Buster Rifle that it's carrying to bash into Patrick Coulsaur's Mobile Suit, causing it to become damaged enough to no longer be a threat and tossed away like a piece of garbage.
Patrick: "W-What the heeeeeck?"
Over the comm, you can hear heavy breathing just before Wing Zero goes into action once again. It first takes the Buster Rifle and fires it directly at the Vayate, causing it to lose half of it's torso and one arm and leg.
Once finished with that, it takes the Buster Rifle apart to make two smaller ones and holds them out to each side of the suit. Once it gets into position it fires them both while moving in a slow circle. It will take out all Mobile Dolls in its path as well as anyone else who doesn't manage to dodge.
Most of the GN-X units, Patrick included, retreat now, leaving a couple stragglers, Vayeate, and WING ZERO. Zero has 50,000 HP and Gundam levels of evasion, plus some nasty power output. But no, we are not to That Boss yet.
A red mobile suit that looks slightly similar to the Vaeate flies onto the scene.
Heero (not on the radio): "I'm not deployed until everything else fails, huh? ...I have no reason to engage the EDF, but there's no reason to announce my presence anyway."
He addresses Wing Zero on the private band.
Heero: "Quatre?"
Quatre: "Heero."
Heero: "You destroyed a colony. Whatever your reasoning is, I hope you realize we're enemies now."
Quatre: "Heero, we don't need need to be fighting each other. The colonies have teamed up with OZ. So they're my enemies now. Heero, the colonies are your enemies now too! Outer Space has lost all reason. That's why I'm going to destroy everything. That's natural, isn't it?"
Heero: "Quatre... is that all you've got to say? War has always been something that defies reason... so I'll believe in myself and keep fighting."
Heero: "Quatre... I'm gonna kill you."
Reinforcements for ME for once! Heero's Mercurius isn't quite as good as some of my top-of-the-line units, but it's definitely competitive, of annoyingly under-upgraded (It doesn't keep Wing Gundam's upgrades because you get that unit back).
After Quatre gets down to about 20,000 HP, though...
...it begins.
Quatre just barely manages to evade the beam, as it licks against the edges of Wing Zero's wings.
It seems clear to Quatre, at the moment, that he can't fight all five of them at once with his abilities...
...when a voice pervades the entire battlefield.
???: ""Do you want the power?"
Quatre: "Who are you?"
Grahf: "I am Grahf, the seeker of power. Doth thou desire the power?"
Teppei: "What the hell is that guy?!?"
Heero: "This isn't good..."
Quatre doesn't hear what anyone else is saying. "I want to destroy all the weapons in space. And to do that, I need more power. So yes."
Grahf: "So be it!"
The black mech raises its hand, blazing energy surrounding it.
Grahf: "My fist is the divine breath!"
Grahf: "Blossom, O fallen seed, and draw upon thy hidden powers!"
Ominous energy pours into the Wing Zero.
Grahf: "Grant unto thee the power of the glorious 'Mother of Destruction'!"[
WELCOME TO
THAT BOSS
First of all, Quatre is restored back to full HP. Second, the ZERO System ability activates, raising all his stats. Third, all hits attacks hit harder and are harder to dodge.
Oh yeah, and he's regenerating HP. Isn't that nice?
Yeah uh, the fight gets brutal around here. Ryouma goes down shortly after the HP restore. Everyone else is pushed to the limit of their SP, EN, and Ammo reserves. BUT FINALLY, I get it down, triggering the last sequence of cutscenes.
Quatre: "Everyone...I can't stand that colony any longer!"
He aims at Heero, who conviently hadthe colony behind him, and fires the TBR with all its power behind it at the Mercurius.
As he sees this Kira feels a moment of inner strength as his eyes glaze over. And then the Vayeate seems to jet into the blast out of nowhwere, blocking it completely using the last bits of power in the shield bits attached to its back.
Quatre: "Kira!"
Heero: "..."
Setsuna: "Kira, no!"
Setsuna: "No, all these people, they're all..."
The Vayeate explodes, both the colony and Heero being saved.

He'll be back.
So after that, Quatre comes to his senses, rejoins my forces, and for SOME FUCKING REASON he doesn't bring Wing ZERO with him. Asshole.
Next Week: Lamia/Axel OTP!
