Unit sizes

I've been wondering, how many units of each size do we have? Let's make a list and find out! I'll slowly make it on my own, but if you want to help me with it, link your units and your size categories - and if you think some of your units are in the wrong size category, point that out too.

The categories are:

SS - around human size
Kamen Riders go here.

S - 4-12 meters / 12-40 feet
This is mostly the realm of real robots.

M - 15-30 meters / 50-100 feet
Gundams and some supers go here.

L - 35-80 meters / 115-260 feet
Most super robots belong in this category.

LL - 100+ meters / 320+ feet
This is for battleships and really huge robots.

There are also bigger size categories, but they're for robots that are kilometers tall and I don't think we have any of those yet.

Help me finish the list! If your character/mech belongs in several categories, mention the one that's used most often or all of them and note which one is used most often.

Samus is, of course, SS, with the Hunter 1 being S.

Pit's units are all S, and mostly the same size.

Mira's bike is SS since really it's technically a hardsuit

Lucchini is DEF SS

Lets see

Rushbird is L so is Nebula and Demonbane

Midori, all three of Canon's Fafners, and Strega surprisingly are M

Messing around with this journal so don't mind it

Vox Ignis is 17 meters, so M-sized.

Azrad in Magius Style was SS (obviously) but Aeon was L-sized at 50 meters.

Naturally, Laura falls under SS-sized while her adopted Knightpolice is S.

Let's see now.

Lowe's Red Frame is definitely M, what with being a typically-sized mobile suit and all. Kimera pods are smaller, but he never uses them for fighting.

Memento Mori stands at the border between S and M. The mook units from AFoS! are definitely S-sized, and I am tempted to put Alessandra's machine in the same category because vertically challenged people are funny.

Devon is SS, obviously.

Vox Lympha is M-sized. Big surprise there.

Ren: SS size

Well, that one was easy. On to Scott.

Scott (Ranger Red): SS size
High Octane Megazord: 51.5 m. L. So far, this is used the most, if only because it's the first configuration and we've only just gotten Zenith not too long ago.
Zenith Megazord: About 50 m, going by both Megazords combined into it (no great height achieved). Still L
Skyrev Megazord: Going to guess still L, since the source Megazords are in the 50 m range.
Paleomax Megazord: ...No way in hell is the wiki right on this. It's got to be 388 FEET, not meters. Even then, that seems a little big for a Megazord shorter than the others. Still L
Clusterfuck RPM Ultrazord: Whoo boy. 93 m, the tallest Megazord to date. LL? L 1/2?

The Rafale Revive Custom II is SS. Same goes for Yui's drones, though I don't plan on having her stay there.

The Zweilicht and derivatives go in M.

Imber is solidly L at 38 meters tall.

Well I'm going to turn things, as planes are as long as MS's are tall.

The X-02 is 21 meters (M Size)

The E-767 AWACS is 48 meters (L size)

If we see it, the IFS Fort Grace Aircraft Carrier is 333 meters (LL+ size?)

Actually, in being that they're planes, they're generally classified as S, despite their length measurement. At least that's what I recall the F22 Messlers in SRW OGs being...

I'm using there long measurements. I cna sum up some heights if you want, though that'll probably lower some ranks.

Battletech has mecha all over the size map. Inner Sphere battle armor is typically SS sized, with a few going over that. Clan Elemental armor is at the low end of S. Mechs themselves range from S to L sized. Resnick's Timber Wolf is M sized, at 75 tons. Dropships start at the high end of L size and go up quickly until they break the scale. Jumpships and warships are not even on the scale.

Mortal Engines has SS to L sized (Stalker whales) units going up against mobile cities which start at LL and quickly go off the scale. There's also S to LL sized airships and landspeeder thingies. Zero's birds are SS sized obvs, the Stalkers are S and her little airship is at the low end of M.

Terui: Kamen Rider Accel - SS sized

Cheng: Combat Frames range from S-M only. The rare exception being the Ymir and the Experimental Super from the Ironlock Finale.

Patrick: The Enact is M sized. DURR

Michael: Metal Wolf is S sized. Enemies are mostly that with the boss enemies being High M and Mid-L.

Vlaska: Slava is L sized. The units in his canon range from M to L.

Luger: uses a Leo - M.

Mad: Ares Gear is a low L.

Fate is obviously a SS.

The Fury is as tall as a M but the length makes it a L.

Ellen is a M.

Seymour is a SS who summons a L.

And when Emmy gets in with Mecha King Ghidorah it will hit a LL.

Big O is pretty damn big, likely LL.

[identity profile] orewagundamda.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Not according to SRW Z it isn't, I know for a fact it's listed as L

[identity profile] paradigmstop.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I did some measuring. My Big O model is 17.5 centimetres tall. The front of the foot, where the panel for Roger's car opens up, is just slightly more than 0.5 cm.

Assuming that Roger can stand up straight in the front of his foot compartment, that panel must be at least 2.2 meters high to allow for freedom. Using simple ratios, that brings Big O to approximately 77 meters tall. Compare this to the Zaku II, for instance, which canonically stands at 17.5 meters, or Mazinger Z at 18 meters, or Shin Getter-1 at 55 meters, and he's still the biggest mother around.

However, you're right. I expected simply because he was so towering that he was an LL. I've been proven wrong, sir. I rescind my statement, and place him in the L category. Just barely. (sadface)

Setsuna's Gundams are all listed as M, as are Kamille's units.

Shoutaro, being a rider, is SS
